Collection: Post-Coronavirus Decontamination

Why is fogging effective for decontaminating Coronavirus/COVID-19 on surfaces?

Fogging with dry steam is a highly effective process of deep cleaning difficult to reach spaces, hard surfaces, and also areas with porous surfaces. These areas easily harbour viruses and bacteria, such as tiled ceilings, carpets, soft furnishings, upholstery and children’s play areas. A fine 'dry' fog will disperse an EN14476 approved disinfectant throughout a room, covering every surface, guaranteeing a complete room decontamination. Tests show that fogging techniques are very effective against Coronavirus/COVID-19 and other viruses.

SARS-CoV-2 is mostly transmitted by breathing and touching, and there are two primary ways the virus is transmitted, person-to-person and via the infection living on surfaces. Frequently used surfaces are the biggest transmitters of Coronavirus, and if it behaves like other known viruses, it can survive on these surfaces for several weeks.

The fogging application creates a fine mist of atomised disinfectant with proven efficiency against coronavirus on hard, non-porous surfaces.

The fogger units evenly distribute the disinfectant to all surfaces, including hard to reach areas.

This not only kills airborne pathogens but also kills those on all surfaces in the fogged area, including those not reached by conventional cleaning methods.

Dispersion rate and strength of sterilising agents are controlled and adjusted as required.

This method allows for the cost effective same-day sterilisation of large areas and rooms quickly and thoroughly.

From the UK Government's National Infection Prevention and Control guide.

“During the pandemic, the frequency of cleaning of both the environment and equipment should be increased to at least twice daily, in particular, frequently touched sites/points.”
 Touch points include:
  • Toilets/commodes
  • Doors/handles
  • Hand & stair rails
  • Kitchen appliances, kettles & microwaves
  • Computer devices, including monitors, keyboards & mouses
  • Locker tops
  • Phones
  • Lift buttons

Where these are used by many people, they should be cleaned at least twice daily with a detergent solution or an agreed alternative.

How do our DeCon systems work?

Our portable and simple to use systems combine powerful steam cleaners with a vessel attachment (De-con device), which holds disinfectant to generate 'dry steam'.

Dry steam is defined as steam with a moisture level ≤ 5%.

The De-con device is filled with the appropriate concentration of disinfectant and connected to the steam cleaner.

The dry steam generated by the cleaner, picks up the disinfectant from the De-con device's vessel, delivering disinfectant fog onto surfaces.

Benefits of our Dry Steam Fogging machine attachment:

    • The fog dispersed is 'dry' (≤5% moisture level) and can be used on electronics
    • Quick to set up and simple to use - point, spray and wipe
    • Effective within 10minutes
    • Used in conjunction with EN1446 Virucidal Disinfectant for proven log reduction in viral microbes
